This paper, published in 2017 I believe, leans heavily on Gilbert Simondons Information Ontology to develop the concept of open-ended intelligence. Simondon's ideas are very compatible with Mahayana Buddhism. He shifts emphasis from "being" to "becoming", necessitating the concept of the pre-individual. The pre-individual is greater than unity; a set of potentials in tension. Individuation is the process whereby the tension in some subset of theses potentials is relaxed. No entity can exhaust its pre-individual. You can clearly see how this relates to pluralistic alignment.
